St. Clare Fishing Tournament

St. Clare Catholic School is turning 50 and they’re doing it up in a big way with an inaugural fishing tournament followed by a Bash at the Buc.

“This Fishing Tournament and Party at the Buccaneer is the culmination of a year’s worth of celebrating the 50th anniversary of our school,” said Kathy Baumann, co-chair of St. Clare’s Fishing Tournament. “The tournament is a fantastic way for us to bring alumni, past teachers and administration, parishioners, and members of the community together for a family-friendly event.”

Funds raised will go to build a new state-of-the-art media center at the school.

“St. Clare has embarked on a mission to enhance our media facilities to meet the demands of 21st century learning,” said Ben Ronquillo, technology coordinator at St. Clare School. “Parents and students crave environments that are engaging and impactful. This new space allows for high-impact learning which fosters collaboration, creativity, and innovation.”

The day’s event begins early – the fishing tournament begins at 7 a.m. sharp at the Sailfish Marina and ends with a weigh-in at 3 p.m. Later that evening the celebration continues with dinner and an awards ceremony at the Buccaneer Restaurant on Singer Island at 7 p.m.

The fishing tournament is a family-friendly event with a kids’ prize category.

“We’re looking forward to a great day of fishing in the St. Clare Fishing Tournament for a great cause,” said Tom Gallagher, St. Clare Catholic School parent. “This will be a fun fishing tournament for me because this is a family event and I can fish with my kids.”

The early bird catches the worm — those who enter their vessels before April 5 will pay $200 per vessel. After April 5, each boat is $275. There will be a mandatory Captain’s Meeting on April 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Buccaneer.

Tickets for the 50th anniversary dinner are $35 per person.
