WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A local animal shelter urgently needs help from the public to adopt cats and dogs.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach is overcapacity with the amount of cats and dogs it has in its shelter. According to CEO, Rich Anderson, there are more than 600 cats in its care and more than 200 dogs.
“We are bursting at the seams,” Anderson says.
Anderson says that over the past month, the shelter has seen more than twenty unwanted animals get dropped off per day.
“We want Peggy Adams and any shelter to really be the last option. So if you are considering surrendering an animal, we hope that first you’ll consider family and colleagues who might be able to take in that pet,” Anderson adds.
The shelter has a promotion going on right now to help encourage people to adopt. It’s offering a “name your own price” special. So you can go to the shelter, pick out an animal you’d like to adopt, then tell them the price you’d like to pay. Anderson hopes this promotion will encourage many people to adopt.
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s adoption center is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information, visit PeggyAdams.org or call 561-686-3663.
