The American Humane Association honored its Palm Beach standard bearer at a thank-you event at The Colony.
The reception took place Feb. 9 and honored Lois Pope for her commitment to animals, children and veterans.
Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of the American Humane Association, hosted the event, which included appearances by actor James Denton and animal rights activist Beth Stern.
The pair are co-hosts for the American Humane Association’s Hero Dogs Awards, which honors “heroes on both ends of the leash” and is nationally televised on the Hallmark Channel.
Since 2011, Pope and her LIFE Foundation have partnered with the humane association on projects including the Red Star Rescue vehicles that saves thousands of animals at disaster sites; the Palm Beach “Be Humane” speaker series; and the K-9 Battle Buddies program, which reunites military dogs and their returned veterans.
More than 100 people attended.
